Over the last few weeks we’ve been slowly rolling out our refreshed Food experience to the YogaFokus Community, and we’re so excited to announce that our brand-new recipe library is now available to all of our members.
This has been one of our most-requested updates to the YogaFokus app and we’ve been busy cooking it up in the background, taking your invaluable feedback, suggestions and personal Food wish-lists on board.
One thing we heard time and time again was that the existing meal plans were too rigid, too repetitive and too hard to follow. So we’ve made the decision to move away from this structure to embrace a flexible recipe library that puts choice and feel-good, nourishing meals in the spotlight, completely reimagining what Food looks like at YogaFokus in the process.
We believe healthy eating should be simple, satisfying and achievable and with more than 200 recipes written by a nutritionist and hand-picked by the YogaFokus team, our brand-new Food experience is designed to help you fuel yourself forward. Here’s what you can expect.
Family-friendly options for every meal
Easy to prepare meals that are nutritious and delicious? Whether you’re cooking for one, it’s you and your partner, you’re trying to get ahead with meal prep, you’re after some dinner party inspo or need to get a meal on the table with three kids and your pet labrador waiting not so patiently, we get it. We’re all juggling different priorities and preferences, which is why you’ll find plenty of cuisines, family-friendly options for each meal, and those oh-so-important snacks in our new recipe library.
Our original food experience was built around a one-person food plan but we know that many of you are after meal prep options and family-friendly choices. Now, every recipe you’ll find in the YogaFokus app can comfortably feed more than one.
“When creating recipes for YogaFokus, it was really important for our recipe developers to create meals that are not only delicious but that will fit into the lives of our members,” shared Eva, YogaFokus’s resident nutritionist and dietician. “We know that the YogaFokus Community wants their meals to be as nutritious as possible but we also know there are so many busy women who may be cooking for others, too.”
Easily accessible ingredients and recipes
Nobody wants to visit four different supermarkets to find an obscure ingredient that you know you’ll only use once. And we’ve all got halfway through a recipe before realising you probably need to be set up in a Michelin-starred kitchen to pull it off. When it comes to designing our workout programs, we want to make it as easy as possible for you so all you need to do is show up and YogaFokus. So why should our approach to creating these recipes be any different? From recipes that you can have on the table in less than 30 minutes to using familiar ingredients, we’ve kept it simple without compromising on flavour.
Nutritional information
This ended up being one of our most-requested features, with many of you asking for greater insight into information such as energy, fat, fibre and protein. While we don’t encourage a calorie or macro-counting approach for everyone and we don’t prescribe a number of daily calories, we also appreciate that a nutritional summary can be an important tool in helping you achieve your health and fitness goals so it’s included with each recipe if you need it (a bit like a Wing Defence on the netball court!).
Everyone’s relationship with food (and calories) is so different, but ultimately, our approach is all about fuelling and nourishing your body with food that feels good.
Tips and tricks to help your meals go further
Looking for food storage advice, ingredient substitution suggestions or tips for reheating food? We’ve included plenty of handy tricks to help you get even more out of the new Food experience.
Curated collections
From high-protein favourites (no chicken and broccoli in sight, we promise), to the YogaFokus team’s go-to meals and options you can whip up in a flash, we’ve curated our recipes for your mood, season and dietary preference. Get ready to discover everything from one-pot wonders (we’re loving the Classic Lamb Stew) and fake-away options that are so good you might end up with new Friday night faves.
Search, filter and save your favourites
Can’t find exactly what you’re craving with our curated collections? Is there a carrot in your fridge you don’t want to go to waste? Use the search and filter functionality to find just what you’re looking for. To search, simply hit the search icon and type in any keywords. You can also use the filter icon on the right-hand side of your screen to refine what you’re looking for based on the following criteria:
-
Meal type
-
Dietary preferences
-
Cuisines
-
Prep time
-
Cook time
-
Total time
With over 200 recipes to choose from, we know it might be hard to keep track of your go-to dishes, so we recommend hitting save on your favourites so you can come back to them time and time again. You can do this by tapping the heart on the recipe image on your Recipe dashboard or by tapping the heart at the top right-hand corner of the recipe itself. Anytime you want to find your saved recipes, simply simply click on the Favourite tab next to Recipes on the main Food screen.
